The evidence on the detrimental health effects of insufficient physical activity has accumulated over the past several decades and has culminated in guidelines underlining the importance of adults engaging in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity and/or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity per week, or an equivalent combination. These guidelines also indicate that children and adolescents should engage in at least 60 minutes each day of moderate to vigorous-intensity physical activity.
